Wedding Theme Ideas

I was watching Dick Clark's count-down to the New Year last night and Ryan Seacrest, posted some stats from Facebook: Over 22% of people changed their status to Engaged in 2011.  Wow, considering how many people are on Facebook, that is quite stagering and at this point, a lot of gals out there starting to plan their wedding: alass with a gorgous bauble on her finger now!  Its ligite now.

Since I posted last about getting into the planning mode. I thought a post about wedding ideas and themes would be most appropriate.  Gone are the days of running to a Justice of the Peace, or courthouse (not entirely--but for the most-part) And, gone are the days of just having a simple wedding. I do's now take much more fan-fare to produce. Now, I don't mean crazy, out-there, shin digs......but, many people attending weddings today expect at least a little something special. So, how do you start?

Start with creating a website to keep your friends and family informed all about what is going on from your engagement to directions to the reception and more.

Paper Divas has some awesome website template programs that can enhance your overall look and "branding" for your wedding. Check them out.

First, think about the things you enjoy together as a couple.  Do you love Skiing? Or perhaps enjoy your weekly Poker night with your friends? How about a lovely Cottage by the Sea or a Walk in the Woods?  Maybe Horses have always been special to you all as a couple or you love 1950's Glam. Did you meet in a coffee shop? I am sure you can come up with a few ideas just by brainstorming. Then, google them to assist you with ideas etc.  Here are some of my pics for the above mentioned ideas...

Wedding Planning Season

With the holiday season right upon us, it is one of the busiest times of the year for engagements. With that in mind that means the Wedding Planning Season is just about to ramp up.  The Knot has, of course, some of the best ideas and wedding tools available. It is easy to get completely lost on there. Another great resource is My Wedding Workbook, which is an on-line planning tool that walks you through anything and everything for your wedding.

Another great idea besides perusing on-line and using on-line tools is to have a dedicated note-book.  One with many tabs that you can label after each area of you wedding.  Such as, flowers, reception, vows and readings etc.  Here you can jot down any ideas, resources and also clip pictures or tear out articles and put in folders at the beginning of each tab.

Lastly, attending a Bridal Show will get you in-touch with some great vendors as well as help you with some ideas. It is an awesome way to really see some of the trends and current hot ideas. Here is a list of current shows in your area that may get you started.

Leave us a comment on a great planning tip.  Happy planning to you.
